Vasile Gorduz - The Retrospective. Mogosoaia Castle, May 2010

One can find on several websites the same 2-3 standard and almost meaningless phrases about Gorduz s sculpture exhibition. People just keep making use of the copy/paste command without a single thought whether the pasted words have the smallest connection with the artist they want to inform about. But this is another story.
I will be short. Leaving aside the very bad organisation of the works, one can have lots of joy by visiting this exhibition. There are simple human figures, funny animals, different postures and bendings, a form so simple and sincere and warm. A great refinement, in fact. At a first glance, you search for the figure, not sure how to look at it; but the very moment you find it, you get rewarded, you fill the artist s bliss while developing the form. And it is remarkable how he knew each time to choose the right moment to stop.
The poster, to see only on the castle s wall, is ok but could have been better. Instead, we were surprised to see you cannot find even a small flyer, not to mention an album - as the great artist would have been worthy of. And, taking pictures not allowed, so the decision of the manager, one hurrying watchman mentioned to us..
