The Most Beautiful German Books

Stiftung Buchkunst holds two annual competitions: "The Most Beautiful German Books" and "The Most Beautiful Books in the World".
"Die schoensten deutschen Buecher" (The Most Beautiful German Books) is one of the most important specialist competitions in the world. The purpose of these competitions is to evaluate and award extraordinary achievements in graphic design and book making. Each book must meet different aesthetic and functional requirements, while the selection committee takes into account a number of strict criteria: concept, graphics, typography details, layout, quality of reproductions and images, paper, printing, binding and public reception (taking into account print run and sales price). The competition categories are: literature, science/specialist books, guides, pocket books, art and photography as well as exhibition catalogues, children's books, manuals and atypical publications.
